New Orleans, May 4, 2006 The Louisiana Campaign for Tobacco-Free Living (TFL) seeks community based and youth-focused organizations to apply for Community Program Grants in amounts up to $25,000. Grant recipients will be required to implement one of three Evidence Based Intervention (EBI) programs that focus on preventing youth from becoming tobacco users in addition to supporting programmatic events and coalition activities at the regional level in accordance with the TFLs goals and objectives. The project period for Community Program Grants is one year and will begin July 1, 2006.
Community Program Grants are part of the campaigns broad reaching effort to empower communities to reduce the toll of tobacco use, says Dr. Charles Brown, Chairman of the TFL Steering Committee. By engaging partners at the regional level, we can raise awareness of the health effects of secondhand smoke, reduce youth initiation of tobacco use, and ultimately, save lives.
