$675,000 in Community Program Grants Available from The Louisiana Campaign for Tobacco-Free Living

The Louisiana Campaign for Tobacco-Free Living (TFL) announces the availability of $675,000 in Community Program Grants for organizations to support the work of regional coalitions and implement proven, community based interventions that engage youth in tobacco control and prevention activities.
Community Program Grants will be awarded in amounts up to $25,000. Selected grant recipients will be required to implement one of three Evidence Based Intervention (EBI) programs that focus on preventing youth from becoming tobacco users. Grant recipients will also be required to support programmatic events and coalition activities at the regional level in accordance with the TFLs goals and objectives. The project period for Community Program Grants is one year and will begin July 1, 2006.
Community Grants are part of the campaigns broad reaching effort to empower communities to reduce the toll of tobacco use, says Dr. Charles Brown, Chairman of the TFL Steering Committee. By engaging partners at the regional level, we can raise awareness of the health effects of secondhand smoke, reduce youth initiation of tobacco use, and ultimately, save lives.
