BeauSoleil Celebrates 30 Years of Red Hot Cajun Music with a Smoke-Free Concert

BeauSoleil will clear the air and pack the house with a smoke-free concert, Sunday, March 12 at the Westlake High School Theatre, 1000 Garden Drive in Westlake. The 30th Anniversary Celebration, presented by Louisiana Crossroads and The Louisiana Campaign for Tobacco-Free Living (TFL), will feature two 60-minute sets beginning at 3pm. Tickets start at $20. Call 337-475-5123 or visit www.banners.org for information.
The career-spanning retrospective concert will feature songs from BeauSoleils nearly two-dozen recordings in chronological order, punctuated by questions from host Todd Mouton of Louisiana Crossroads and audience members. The south Louisiana tour has provided a unique opportunity for audiences to gain revelations and insights into the band, its repertoire, and our states rich traditions, says Todd Mouton. BeauSoleil is Louisiana folk music at its finest and it will be great to celebrate in Baton Rouge, minus the second-hand smoke.
Louisiana Crossroads, the states preeminent musical showcase, is working to develop and preserve Louisianas cultural and artistic heritage through live performances, radio and television broadcasts, recordings and related programming. In the scope of five short years, Louisiana Crossroads has produced more than 60 live events in six cities around Louisiana. The touring concert series attributes much of its popularity to its commitment to offer intimate, interactive and smoke-free performances.
The Grammy-winning band is among a growing number of Louisiana musicians who prefer to play in smoke-free venues. Were always happy to clear the air for our fans and the band, says fiddle player, composer and vocalist, Michael Doucet. We are committed to promoting our unique culture and spreading good health as we travel the state. Our partnership with TFL shows our shared commitment to rebuilding a healthier Louisiana.

Secondhand smoke is harmful to everyone who breathes it, says Greg David, Lake Charles Area Regional Coordinator for The Louisiana Campaign for Tobacco-Free Living. Its no surprise that audiences have embraced the opportunity to enjoy live music and Louisiana culture without the intrusion of secondhand smoke. Seventy-five percent of Louisianans do not smoke. We should all have the right to breathe clean air, no matter the location, adds David.
BeauSoleil will conclude their 30th Anniversary Celebration tour of south Louisiana with a smoke-free performance at 3pm Sunday, March 12th at The Westlake High School Theatre in Westlake.
