EVALUATION & RESEARCH

Evaluation and monitoring for TFL involves a complex multi-method evaluation strategy that documents program processes and programmatic effects across the state.

TFL and its partners implement the Adult Tobacco Survey (ATS) and the Youth Tobacco Survey (YTS) in alternating years to track changes over time in tobacco-related behaviors, knowledge, and attitudes. TFL gathers data from the Tobacco Quitline and Freedom From Smoking Clinics to track success among smokers attempting to quit.

The Make Yours a Fresh Start Family evaluation helps us to understand the impact that obstetricians and gynecologists have on the smoking behaviors of pregnant women.

Periodic reports from Regional Coordinators and progress reports from community grant recipients help us to understand the many community-based tobacco control and prevention activities that occur daily throughout Louisiana.

Together, this mixture of quantitative and qualitative information gives us an ongoing understanding of the impact The Louisiana Campaign for Tobacco-Free Living and partners have in Louisiana.
