GREAT AMERICAN SMOKEOUT IS NOVEMBER 20TH

Tobacco-Free Living (TFL) and the Louisiana Tobacco Control Program (TCP) are collaborating to present statewide events in observance of Great American Smokeout (GASO) on November 20, 2008. The GASO 2008 theme Being Smoke-Free Rocks, will be used to encourage local bars and music venues to go smoke-free on GASO day, to increase awareness of the dangers of secondhand smoke exposure and to inform participants of available statewide tobacco cessation services.

We encourage you to patronize these smoke-free places on November 20 and dont forget to stop by the TFL table for free stuff.

MAKE YOUR VOICE HEARD

Musicians and employees who work in a bar or casino are disproportionately affected by tobacco due to being forced to earn their living in smoke-filled venues that pose serious health risks; risks that may result from breathing toxic secondhand smoke while at work.

Are you a musician and/or do you work in a bar or casino and believe you deserve a healthier working environment? Are you interested in advocating for stronger smoke-free ordinances that will protect you at work? TFL is committed to ensuring that your voice is heard.

If you are ready to take a stand for a smoke-free workplace and take action in your community to strengthen local smoke-free air policies, we can provide you with support and resources to make this happen. Click here if you want your voice to be heard.
